Our Story

At Fletcher Miller School in Lakewood, Colorado, play opens doors—to connection, discovery, and belonging.

Clark’s Toy Workshop transforms battery-operated toys into switch-accessible experiences, creating opportunities for students with complex bodies and diverse access needs to engage in play on their own terms. For many students, this means interacting with toys in ways that are truly meaningful—sometimes for the very first time.

The workshop was established in memory of Clark Nease, a preschool student whose joyful spirit continues to shape the Fletcher Miller community. What began as an act of love and remembrance has grown into a space where inclusion comes to life. Students explore adapted toys, families gather, and siblings share moments of excitement as they choose and play together.

Clark’s Toy Workshop is about more than toys. It’s about dignity, access, and the deep sense of care that defines this community. Here, accessibility isn’t an idea—it’s an experience. And joy is something everyone gets to share.
